What is HRHS Playbulls?
Our program allows students to explore a diverse range of classes, performances, and experiences that give them real world opportunities to create live theatre. Whether it be through competition plays, set design projects, or just meeting as a drama club, we encourage students to do things that prepare them for the “real world”, therefore allowing them to learn about themselves. We welcome creativity, collaboration, and passion, and encourage a culture of care to best support our students.
Our program is tailored to all expereince levels, from beginners to advanced creators, and we offer programs both in and outside of school. Join us as we cultivate creativity and passion for the stage!

Drama Club
The drama club is our afterschool theatre program open to all HRHS Students. We meet once a month to discuss performance opportunities, future events, and upcomming shows.
The Drama Club sponsors all afterschool events including the NC Filmworks Film Festival, Improv Troupe, Student Directed One Acts, Talent Shows, and the Spring Musical
ITS Troupe #7306
International Thespain Society, or ITS, is the High School Honors Society for theatre students. Participants are inducted after completing 10 points, or 100 hours of registered theatre work. At Hickory Ridge, we proudly represent Troupe #7306 of the International Thespian Soceity.
Once inducted, students have access to specific ITS Troupe trips (Disney 2027) and scholarships through the Educational Theatre Foundation.
Outside of induction, there are many other options for advancement and recognition in the Troupe. Students can letter after 30 points, receive honors status and get an honors chord for graduation at 60 points, and much more! Check our Constitution or attend our drama club meetings to learn more.
Classes
Hickory Ridge High School offers 5 unique theatre classes with 9 different sections for students to take throughout the school year. Each class is catered towards various experience levels and theatre disciplines including acting, technical theatre, singing, dancing, playwrighting, directing, and theatre production. We offer:

About the Teacher
Avri Gozy
Ms. Gozy is heading into her 3rd year at Hickory Ridge High School. She studied at UNC Greensboro where she received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in K-12 Theatre Education.
